| ~ Our Mission ~ The Mission of the UDFCD Design and Construction Program is to steward the taxpayer's dollars by efficiently and effectively using those tax dollars to construct facilities that protect or remove structures from flooding. We will accomplish this by being the leader in innovation to protect society from flooding while working in context with existing development and in harmony with the environment.
In this, the third phase of improvements to Littles Creek (between Broadway and Apache Road), Urban Drainage and the City of Littleton team up with engineers from ASCG, Inc. and constructors from Flatiron Constructors, Inc. to improve the drainageway along Sterne Parkway in Littleton. The $703,000 project is scheduled for six months. Upon its September 2005 completion, all structures between Elati Street and Apache Road will have been removed from the 100 year floodplain.

The first two phases in the project consisted of replacing the bridges of several street crossings, and of course, channel improvements. This phase focuses on collecting the upstream storm water plus the local storm sewer flows in a 100-year crossing under Sterne Parkway. Designed with a three-sided precast box and a cast-in-place slab & low-flow channel, several storm sewer improvements ranging from 18" to 48" RCP, and a new intersection with curb, gutter and sidewalk, "improvements to Littles Creek" seems a comment understated.
Amcor produced the the 175 linear feet of 28' wide by 5' high side boxes while Flatiron used a 300 ton hydraulic crane to place the boxes. Notably, the boxes were placed in less than two days without complication. Construction is 50% complete and moving forward as scheduled. Impressive. View project location
